Summer Savory (Satureja hortensis, Lamiaceae) Perennial, height 30-50 cm Sowing: Outdoors in April to August, indoors in pots all year, light germinator therefore use shallow drills. A four year crop rotation should be adhered to as the plant is self inhibiting. Seed amount: Direct sowing 80 g/100 m², for seedlings 2 g/1.000 plants, pot growing 10 g/1.000 pots. Spacing: 25x25 cm for pots, direct sowing in rows 45 cm apart. Harvesting: July/August to September from late sowing, from the beginning to full flowering. For industrial use the stalks should not be cut too low as the quality will be affected by high amounts of stalk content. After cutting dry carefully.
